I just wish we could all be a bit more humble. I've read too much, and seen too many speakers, that profess to be experts; they have 'the answer!' they say - sure, sure.....I look at these guys, and I think, "you've never really done this stuff have you. Not in the real world. You've never been up at 1am with an impossible deadline with fucked up systems and tired staff. Sure your stuff all sounds well and good in theory land, but in my world..."
I'd like to show the other side of the coin. I'm no expert. Not at all. But I've done this stuff for 8 years in a number of companies and I know how these things are. I can't give you answers, but I can give you questions....at this stage I think that's what counts. I also think I know what doesn't work...and that's not such a bad thing to know.
I hope you enjoy reading this stuff...it's kinda therapeutic to write it anyway.
